A blog about the things I make and modify, with occasional thrift purchases that I am especially proud of. Some things I make to hopefully sell, others I just want to show off, but the right price will take anything--shoot me an email if you are interested!

I made dinner.

Once upon a time, I made dinner for my (then) girlfriend. It was a huge undertaking (for me, anyway) consuming hours. I probably bit off a little more than I could chew, but I wanted to do something special. Reminiscing over memories of delicious Mediterranean cuisine I enjoyed with friends in school, I decided to make:
  • Humus
  • Fattoush
  • Baba Ganoush
  • Tabouli
  • Kibbeh Balls
After about a quarter of a day, I think it turned out pretty well, considering the only thing I had previously cooked was an omelet. Lawrence of Arabia came on, so that was somewhat fitting, I guess. We ate on the coffee table and cushions, because I thought it would be more authentic that way. It looked like this:

(I cheated and bought the pita bread.)

Here are a few new pipes that I've finished refurbishing. The top two are pending purchase; the latter two have asking prices listed.

Mastersen--sold

Royal Danish (Stanwell second)--sold

Britannia (Comoy's second)--$30 sold

Mastersen--$15 (sold)

If you want full-sized pics or different views, I'd be happy to email them.

Pipe Refurbishing

Here is my latest. I am still trying to get the stem shinier, but it used to be the color inside of the logo. I think I'll keep this one; it smokes C&D's Milk and Honey quite nicely!

Pipe/Sunglasses Cases--SOLD

These are about 8" by 4", and will hold relatively flat (Wayfarer!) sunglasses, or average-sized pipes quite easily. They are made out of padded foam with a soft inner lining and stylish plaid outer layer. I made them because I was tired of having to be careful with my pipes when I took them in my car or wanted to throw them in a bag for a trip. Anyone want one for $12?

Shoe Finds

I'd been looking for a pair of boat shoes in dark brown, and saw these at my local thrift store:

Sperry Topsiders in great shape for $2 isn't a bad deal.

Also, some Johnston and Murphy dress shoes in a size 9 1/2 D that I will give to my dad or flip on eBay:

Edit: J&M shoes are gone to my dad.
